A few days ago I was laying on the couch at my parent’s house watching football, fighting off a newly developed illness. It was my last night in town and I had spent a large portion of the day making a big dinner of butternut squash gnocchi for everyone, but by the time the food was ready I was too sick to eat it. I excused myself early, and went and laid down on the couch in the living room. A bowl game was on, Boise vs. TCU, I didn’t really care about it, which was exactly the kind of programming I needed at the moment. During the halftime show I got up and went to another room, only to have my brother come running in behind me, laughing and insisting that I had to see the cowbell player. My parent’s have TIVO and so we were able to rewind the game to watch what had to have been the least enthusiastic nationally broadcast cowbell player of all time. Phenomenal! We watched it repeatedly, laughing harder each time. For a moment I completely forgot that I was sick.
Then I threw up.
